San Francisco Unified School District Thinking Of Giving All Students A's!

So many students in the Bay Area, and across the country, are grappling with how to complete their studies in this shelter-in-place era as the school year draws to a close. The study-at-home playing field is far from even given the fact that many students can’t afford computers or reliable Internet access, and aren’t sure how their classes will be graded. The San Francisco Unified School District board met recently, and supported the idea of giving all middle and high school students A’s for their courses.

State education officials, as well at UC and Cal State University systems, aren’t too keen on the idea.

If you ask some of the students, they’ll tell you that they’d prefer a pass/no pass system.

The schools have been shut down since March 16th, and the 62,000 students have been forced to learn through live video classes. The district is working on something called “Screen Captify”, which would allow pre-recorded lessons that students can listen to on their own time, avoiding some of the typical distractions at home.

A decision will be made by the end of April.

Jack Kulp and Carolyn McArdle talked about it on the air! Listen below...
