If you’d like to take a quick trip to North Lake Tahoe, the town of Truckee want’s you to stay away. Well, they put it a little more nicely. Same with Placer County.
They’re “discouraging” tourists from visiting on weekends for the time being, or at least through August 17th. Because of the crush of tourists it’s almost impossible to practice safe distancing there right now. Large groups of visitors are overcrowding public areas and trails, and parking has also become a problem at some of their most popular spots, according to Truckee Mayor David Polivy.
The request is aimed at day trippers visiting on weekends with no place to stay. But @VisitTruckee emphasizes that if you already have reservations for accommodations, feel free to visit.
