Even though we’re waiting for an effective COVID-19 vaccine, there are still some amazing scientific breakthroughs that will help us through the pandemic. There’s some incredible news coming out of Germany. They’ve been able to successfully train dogs to detect people that may be infected.
Eight dogs from Germany’s armed forces were trained for ONLY a week, and were able to detect the virus with a 94% success rate!
Dogs have a sense of smell bout 1,000 times more sensitive than people, so the dogs will be able to detect infections in places like sporting events, airports, and border crossings. It’s possible that the dogs will be able to detect that a person might be infected, even though that person might not know it yet.
