Neighbors Really Came Through To Help Keep Theater Open

Livermore’s Vine Cinema has gotten a new lease on life.

The Tri-Valley community has come to the rescue and is helping to save the 60 year old theater. As is the case for so many things, the pandemic came close to shutting down the movie house permanently. The theater started a GoFundMe page called “The Vine Cinema Needs Your Help”, and in the first three days they hit their goal of $65,000. They eventually got over $100,000 in donations, and that amount is growing. Most donations ranged from $10 to $100, with one anonymous donor kicking in $1,000. All told, over 11,000 people made donations. Vine general manager and co-owner Kenny Way isn’t sure when the theater will be allowed to reopen, but the donations will help keep the lights on until that day finally comes.
