Helicopter pilots are becoming the latest group of heroes in the effort to save lives from the California wildfires.
There are times when they actually can’t see where they’re landing because of the smoke. Many of the helicopter rescues are happening around Shaver Lake near Fresno. On Tuesday helicopters from the Navy and National Guard airlifted more than 81 hikers and campers trapped by the Creek Fire. So far, more than 200 people have been rescued by the chopper pilots.
