49ers defensive lineman Solomon Thomas managed to turn a personal tragedy into a positive.
Two years ago, Solomon lost his sister, Ella, to suicide. After going through the grieving process after the loss of his sister, who he considered to be his best friend, he fell into a deep depression. Things have changed. He finally realized that he had to move on, and keep his sister’s memory alive in a way that would help other people. He’s using his platform to push for mental health, and suicide prevention. Thomas, with some encouragement from his Mom, took part in the “Overnight out of the Darkness” walk. With help from his teammates, he was able to raise over $50,000 for suicide prevention. Just a touching story.
