Let’s hear it for Clayton’s Les Ruefenacht! He’s 80, and going all out to help low-income students with distance learning.
Lots of kids who are forced to learn from home can’t afford desks. Les is filling the need, by cranking out desks, at least three every day. He cuts the lumber, sands it, and puts them all together. Each desk includes a study lamp, a power strip, and two USB ports. Each desk costs about 65 dollars in materials, and he takes requests from students within 40 miles of his home in Contra Costa County.
If you’d like to donate money for materials, you can do that here.
