Once again, the San Francisco Fire Department found themselves working outside their job description.
Last week they were called to 15th and Santiago in San Francisco after neighbors heard loud cries. Residents there determined that the noise was coming from a racoon stuck in a tree. San Francisco Animal Care was called to the scene who in turn, called the SFFD for help. Firefighters were given a quick lesson in comforting wild animals from Animal Control, and proceeded to rescue the panicked racoon, which will eventually be returned to the wild. The SFFD named the racoon Freedom.
