Breakdancing is now an official Olympic sport!
The International Olympic Committee made the announcement on Monday. Breakdancing will make its debut at the Paris Olympic Games in 2024. The IOC also confirmed that skateboarding, sport climbing, and surfing will be part of the Olympics in Paris, though those three competitions will be introduced at the Tokyo Olympic Games which will open July 23, 2021. You may remember that the Tokyo Games were supposed to take place this year, but the pandemic put an end to that.
The IOC hopes that the introduction of these new Olympic events will draw younger viewers. The younger audience has been losing interest in the games in recent years.
