A Bay Area Town Has Voted To Ban The Construction Of New Gas Stations

The North Bay city of Petaluma has decided that they can do without more gas stations.

Their city council unanimously voted to ban permits for new gas stations. Petaluma is the first town in the country to permanently halt the construction of new gas stations. The city is planning to get to zero emissions by 2030, and this is one way for them achieve that goal.

Petaluma is just 15 square miles in size, and home to 16 gas stations. 61,000 people currently reside in the city.
