If you’re looking for something good to read on BART, you might not have to look any further than the BART station. No. Seriously!
BART’s installing what they call “Short Edition” kiosks, and it’s free. Just wave your hand in front of a kiosk, and it will spit out a short story on what looks like grocery store receipt paper. Right now they’re installed at the Pleasant Hill, Richmond, and Fruitvale stations. Eventually BART hopes to install Short Edition in all of their stations and invite local writers to contribute.
Director Francis Ford Coppola is a fan, stating “I read about it, and it’s a wonderful idea.” In fact, he has one installed at his Café Zoetrope in North Beach.
