A Bay Area Airport Will Make It Easier For You To Get Through Security.

Authentication by facial recognition concept. Biometric. Security system.

San Francisco International Airport is trying out a facial recognition technology that will read your face without having to produce a photo ID. Right now, it’s only available on United Airlines domestic flights.

To get started, you walk up to a machine to get enrolled. The machine will match your face with the photo on your driver’s license. From then on you won’t need to dig out your driver’s license again.

By the way, after October 1, 2021 you’ll need a California Real ID to board a domestic flight. That deadline was moved back from last year because of the pandemic. For info on how to get a California Real ID, click here.
