As we approach a very dry and dangerous summer in the Bay Area, there is no doubt that our firefighters are going to be extra busy this year. Good sleep and being physically healthy are critical needs for all of our fire departments.
A fundraising effort is underway for our friends at the Napa Fire Department to bring in 28 new beds as well as weightlifting equipment thanks to the National First Responders Fund. Here's what the NFRF wrote: "After suffering a record-breaking wildfire season last year, the Napa City Fire Department's need for resources is more critical than ever. That's why we're asking for your help in funding mattresses and exercise equipment for their fire stations, which offer critical support for the firefighters' training and well being."
