Be ready for a gasoline shortage this travel season, and it’s not why you think.
There’s plenty of gas, but getting it to gas stations will be a challenge. There aren’t enough tanker truck drivers to get the gas to retailers. Gas sales plummeted during the pandemic, so tanker drivers were let go by the thousands. In the meantime, those drivers found other jobs, and not just anyone can be permitted to drive a tanker truck.
Tanker drivers are required to have a special commercial truck driver’s license and must go through weeks of training.
