This should help tourism in San Francisco A LOT this summer!

San Francisco Mayor London Breed announced that the cable cars are coming back! In fact, MUNI will be running test runs during the month of August, and all are invited to ride the cars for free during the month. While the rest of the MUNI transit system has been slowly gearing back up post pandemic, the resumption of the cable car lines is a bit more complicated. The cable car system has to be checked since it closed down in March of 2020, and operators need to be retrained.

The cars will be running close to their regular schedule during the August trial run, then return to full-fare and their normal schedule on September 1st.
