San Francisco County Sheriff Paul Miyamoto took the time to visit Chinatown merchants in San Francisco in a show of support.
Chinatown’s economy was hit especially hard during the pandemic, and they’re also battling recent hate attacks against the Asian community. Chinatown was the first area to see a slowdown in foot traffic once the shelter-in-place orders were issued last year.
Of the 200 businesses open before the lockdown in Chinatown, only 45 have reopened, and many remain closed.
