They’ve been shut down for almost two years, but Napa & Sonoma County wineries are experiencing a nearly miraculous come-back. In fact, the number of tourists coming back to the area has exceeded everyone’s expectations.
Todd O’Leary, vice president of marketing for Sonoma County tourism said, “We are seeing a strong return to travel. There’s been a huge pent-up demand for it, and now that consumers are getting vaccinated, they are booking travel now and into the future.”
Demand for lodging in the Napa Valley this year is approaching 2019 levels. Friday and Saturday night hotel bookings are getting close to 90% occupancy, while midweek occupancy rates are now close to 50%. International travelers from Asia and Europe are coming back in record numbers, and people are tipping big!
