Here’s good news. There’s going to be plenty of gas for summertime travel this year. The problem is getting the fuel to the gas stations.
Because of a shortage of tanker truck drivers, there have been spot shortages of gasoline at the pumps. “We have enough gas. It’s just an issue of getting gas where it needs to go. It’s spotty. It’s going to be temporary.” said KImberly Schwind, spokeswoman for Ohio AAA.
When the pandemic started, gas consumption took a nose-dive, so lots of tanker trucks were idle. Many truck drivers either looked for other work or retired. Now that gas consumption is up, more drivers will need to be hired to fill the void and the gas to consumers.
