Look what BART is doing to clean up their landscaping!

BART brought in 700 goats to get rid of high grass, and to cut firebreaks. The goats are an alternative to mowers, which can spark wildfires and cough up exhaust.

The goats consume about an acre of grass a day, and BART will use them to clear a total of 35 acres. 

They were last seen near the Fremont station. When they finished there, they moved on to the Lafayett and Walnut Creek stations near Highway 24.

Oh, another benefit? Goats leave behind a natural compost while they graze, thus enriching the soil.
