Great news! The parklets that you see all over San Francisco that allowed us to eat outdoors during the pandemic at some of our favorite restaurants are here to stay!
The San Francisco Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to pass an ordinance that would make the Shared Spaces program permanent. This is a huge relief for restaurants and bars that have poured money into building these outdoor spaces in order to continue serving diners and drinkers during the pandemic and are now struggling to recover from debt. Parklets were originally a temporary emergency measure, but now they stand to change the landscape of SF forever.
Many restaurant owners are not only happy about it but they say it's an extra draw to customers because now they have another way to dine at their establishment.
