Catalytic converter thefts are up exponentially, according to State Farm.
Thefts were up 175% among State Farm customers in California from July 2020 to June 2021. More than 6,400 converters were stolen in California. California is the worst state in the US for catalytic converter thefts.
Why are these being lifted?
Because of the metals they contain like platinum and rhodium, are extremely valuable. These parts can be worth a few hundred to several thousands of dollars.
