What do you think it would take to coax a male black bear out of a tree?
Well, in North Carolina, it just took a couple of jelly doughnuts. A few nights ago, an animal rescue crew placed a couple of jelly doughnuts and a few sardines at the base of the tree to, hopefully, lure the bear out of the tree. It worked! After an hour or so the bear lumbered down.
This is the time of year that male cubs leave their mamas, so it’s pretty common to see male black bears roaming on their own.
