Amazon is leaning against landlords to allow their drivers access to apartment building lobbies.
It’s a program called “Key for Business”, and it would allow delivery people to unlock apartment building doors themselves so they won’t need to leave packages outside. It would reduce theft, and speed up deliveries.
It’s a device that is installed on the lock of the lobby door, and activated with an app on the delivery person’s phone. Amazon has already installed the device in thousands of apartment buildings across the country.
The company does background checks on all their delivery people. Access to the apartment lobby is only possible when the driver has a package in hand to scan.
