Your favorite Bay Area restaurant may be closing for a short time for a reason you might not suspect.
The reason is to give overworked employees a break. After opening back up after being closed for so long during the pandemic, restaurant staffs are working overtime to make up for the pandemic losses. Add to that a shortage of workers, and that compounds the need for workers already in place to put in extra hours.
Lots of Bay Area restaurant workers found work elsewhere, even leaving the Bay Area, putting more stress on the workers still on duty.
So, some Bay Area restaurants are closing for a short time to give overworked employees some time off.
