It's Another Busy Season For The Postal Service.

The Expected Budget Deficit Of US Postal Service Grows To 7 Billion For '09

Bay Area mail carriers are gearing up for a busy season.

Some neighborhood carriers will begin their rounds at 6am during the Postal Services peak season which runs now through New Years. They expect to deliver between 850 million and 950 million packages in the next four weeks. A total of 12 billion letters, cards and packages will be sorted and delivered.

December 13th-18th will be the busiest when 2.3 billion pieces of mail will be delivered.
