Southwest Airlines just started serving alcohol on board some of their flights, and one group is not happy about that.

The beverage service will be available on flights of 176 miles or more. Alcohol service on Southwest has been suspended since March of 2020.

The union that represents Southwest flight attendants says the move is “unsafe and irresponsible”, making it even more difficult to enforce the federal mask mandates aboard their flights.

United Airlines started serving alcohol again back in November. Delta resumed beer and wine service to their First Class passengers on domestic flights in July of 2020. As of now, American Airlines is the lone holdout among the big four carriers, and hasn’t set a date for the return of alcohol sales aboard their flights.
