BART is slowly but surely replacing some of their cars that have been in service since the 70s.
What to do with the old cars?
Eight of the cars are going to organizations that submit use proposals to BART. If BART likes the idea, you get an old car. If your idea is one that BART likes, be prepared to pay between 8 and 15 thousand dollars to have it delivered. BART has some pretty good ideas coming in. For example, Arthur Mac’s Tap & Snack in Oakland will be turning a car into video game arcade. The Oakland A’s will be using an old car as a museum to display the history of sports & transit in the East Bay.
