The protein that cats have, and what causes an allergic reaction in some humans, is in the cat’s saliva, not in their fur, as most people think.
Cat food companies are working on a line of products that would reduce or eliminate the protein in cats. Work is also being done in creating a cat vaccine that would reduce the effect of the protein on humans.
