Yep. "Sleep Inertia" is a thing.

What you do AFTER you wake up is just as important as what you do before bedtime to feel refreshed.

If you wake up groggy, or feel not completely awake, you may be suffering from “sleep inertia”. Symptoms may include feeling confused, lethargic, and mentally foggy.

Sleep inertia can last 15 to 30 minutes after you wake up. But there are ways to fight it. For example, sitting up in bed and meditating for 10 to 15 minutes , and maybe doing some simple exercises and stretches. Drinking lots of water, not necessarily coffee, will help you rehydrate after a night’s sleep, and make you feel more refreshed.
