Shakeria woke up from a nap and immediately went into labor. Flight attendant Diana Giraldo and her crew couldn’t find anyone with childbirth training, so they went to work themselves. They were able to gather medical supplies, and take Shakeria to the back of the plane where she gave birth.
In the meantime, the pilot and First Officer arranged to have the flight diverted to Pensacola. Captain Chris Nye had nothing but praise for his crew. "Diana again went above and beyond after the completion of the flight to coordinate our return to Orlando. The whole crew really did a great job."
