When an actor truly inhabits a role, it can take them a minute to shake it. Just ask Austin Butler. The 30-year-old is playing Elvis Presley in “Elvis,” the Baz Luhrman biopic.
He finds himself using his Elvis voice, even though they are done shooting the movie! He said that it’s been hard to shake since he lived with the role for two years.
“At this point, I keep asking people, ‘Is this my voice?’ because this feels like my real … it’s one of those things where certain things trigger it and other times as well it’s, I don’t know,” Austin shared. “When you live with something for two years, and you do nothing else, I think that you can't help it. It becomes a fiber of your being.”
You’ll be able to see how well Austin does when “Elvis” opens on June 24th.
Carolyn McArdle talked about it on the air. Listen below!
