It's A State Of Emergency In Mariposa County

So far, the Oak Fire in Mariposa County has burned over 16 thousand acres, making it the largest wildfire in California so far this year.

6,000 people have had to leave their homes.

It started just after 2 on Friday afternoon between Mariposa and Yosemite National Park.

More than 2,000 firefighters are trying to control the fire from the ground and from the air, and Governor Newsom has declared a state of emergency for the area.

The National Weather Service is predicting that smoke from the fire will reach the higher elevations of the Bay Area by Tuesday.
