A record was broken yesterday. A baseball card was sold at auction for $12.6 million. It’s a 1952 mint condition Mickey Mantle card, and it set the record for the most valuable sports collectible in the world. It breaks the previous record of $6.6 million set last year for a Honus Wagner card.
The seller, Anthony Giordano, bought the Mantle card in 1991 for $50,000 and kept it hidden for three decades.
