Thanks to the pandemic, a lot of Americans got used to working from home, so it’s no surprise to hear that if given the choice, many would love to continue doing so. But even with that, many admit there are several benefits to working in the office.
A new survey finds:
- If given the choice, 42% of Americans would prefer to mostly work remote, with only occasional days in the office.
- 26% would prefer an entire remote schedule.
- While only 9% would want to be entirely at the office.
- As for their actual work schedule…
- 39% of people are working remotely with occasional days in the office.
- 24% are working entirely remotely.
- 20% say they have more in person days than remote days.
But while most people prefer to work from home, many do acknowledge that there are some aspects of the job that are better suited for being in the office.
- Those include:
- One-on-one meetings (57% vs. 30%)
- Sharing meals (51% vs. 28%)
- “Lunch and learn” presentations (51% vs. 31%)
- Happy Hours (46% vs. 32%)
Things that would motivate employees to return to in-person work full time include:
- Spending more time with co-workers (45%)
- Having the company pay for commute (42%)
- Being offered company-supplied meals (38%)
Of course, those benefits may not outweigh the benefits of working from home, which include:
- Flexible work schedule (49%)
- Spending less time commuting (47%)
- Having more time to spend with family and friends (47%)
