Salary transparency is now the law in New York City.

The law went into effect yesterday, and requires businesses with four or more employees to state a salary range when posting job openings on job boards like LinkedIn, Glassdoor and Indeed. The listing only needs to include base salary, and not fringe benefits.

Salary transparency laws already exist in Colorado, and will probably become law in California and the rest of New York state by next year.
