It was Monday Night Football last night, and Buffalo Bills were visiting the Cincinnati Bengals when Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field due to cardiac arrest. Medics were able to restart Hamlin’s heart right there on the field, and he was rushed to the hospital where he remains in critical condition. The rest of the game was postponed, which is almost unprecedented in the NFL.
A few years ago Hamlin, a Pittsburgh native, set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to buy toys for kids in his hometown. About $74,000 was in the account an hour after his collapse. As of early this morning $3 million has been raised with over 119,000 donations.
