The National Weather Service rarely issues blizzard warnings in California, but that’s exactly what they’ve done for the Sierra.
Even the CHP is warning that, if you get stuck in your car, you may be there for a while. They went on to advise that “Travel is HIGHLY discouraged the next couple of days”. The blizzard warning will be in effect until 4 a.m. Wednesday in the Tahoe region.
Temps will be in the low 30s at lake level, and low 20s in the mountains. It should all clear out by Thursday.
Farther south, Yosemite National Park will be closed through Wednesday because of the extreme weather conditions.
