Why are they changing the Toblerone packaging?
The delicious candy bar needs to change its packaging, and here’s why: Since there’s a likeness of the Matterhorn, the picturesque mountain peak in the Swiss Alps on the Toblerone package, 80% of the raw materials in the product must originate in Switzerland. It’s the “Swissness Law” in Switzerland. Since the Toblerone bar no longer contains at least 80% of Swiss raw materials, the Matterhorn image has to go. Instead, you'll see a generic image of a mountaintop. And instead of "Toblerone of Switzerland", you'll see "Founded in Switzerland. on the box.
The candy was created in Switzerland in 1908 by Theodor Tobler.
