The heavy rain we experienced in the Bay Area this winter could mean a more severe mosquito season.
There’s no shortage of standing water outside, and that provides the perfect breeding ground for the bugs. Mosquitoes happen to be a major factor in the spread of West Nile virus, so it’s important to eliminate their breeding areas.
Authorities recommend cleaning your gutters, and checking for standing water in outdoor toys, bird baths, flower pots, and swimming pools and hot tubs that haven’t been maintained.
When you’re outside, cover exposed skin and use a good repellent.
