The person who purchased that winning Powerball ticket at a Los Gatos gas station back in October has finally claimed their prize, with no time to spare.
The ticket is worth a little over $1.5 million, and was claimed yesterday…the day the ticket was set to expire. The California Lottery office has not yet revealed the name of the winner.
Lottery officials say that more than $1 billion lottery winnings have gone unclaimed since lottery tickets first went on sale in 1985. Unclaimed lottery winnings are donated to California schools.
