Parts Of Yosemite Will Close Today. Here's Why.

California's Snowpack At Nearly 250% Above Average After Repeated Storms

If you were planning on visiting Yosemite this weekend, you might have to cancel those plans.

Most of the park will close down at 10 tonight, and won’t reopen until Wednesday May 3rd. Park officials are worried that the rapid snow melt going on now will cause flooding in the area, so they’ve decided to play it safe.

Campground and lodging reservations in the eastern Yosemite Valley will be canceled automatically and refunds will be issued.

You might remember the park had to close early last month after fifteen feet of snow fell in some areas.
