If you are living or working or even visiting SF soon, just an FYI that there is a fake parking citation scam that is happening in San Francisco. Fake parking tickets with QR codes for payment are being put on cars and people are falling for it and paying for the “ticket” but the money is going to the scammers who placed the fake tickets on your car!
When you scan the QR code, it takes you to a website that has a link for you to pay. The website looks almost exactly like the SFMTA site and that’s how people are falling for it!
Here’s how you know the website is fake. The official SFMTA parking citation website ends with a “.com” compared to the fake website which ends with a “.app”
SF Parking Control Officers are removing any false tix that they see.
