The Women’s World Cup is one of the most prestigious soccer tournaments in the world - and is set to begin next week in New Zealand and Australia.

But it was only in 1991 that it came to be (as opposed to 1930 for the men's tournament).

Since 1991, only four countries have won the Women’s World Cup after competing in a tournament of a dozen-plus of the best nations in the sport.

Here are all eight winners of the Women’s World Cup, starting from the tournament’s inception in 1991.

1991: United States

1995: Norway

1999: United States

2003: Germany

2007: Germany

2011: Japan

2015: United States

2019: United States
