A message in a bottle launched off the cost of Massachusetts almost 9 years ago was found by a University of Michigan student in the West Indies
Cassidy Beach says she found the bottle among a pile of marine debris at the base of a cliff on the island of South Caicos in April.
Beach and her classmates broke the bottle open and discovered a message dated Sept. 30, 2004. The author, Pennel Ames, explained it had been thrown into the Atlantic Ocean off the Nantucket coast.
