Two women, both 80-years-old, have met in person for the first - after writing to each other for 68 years.

Patsy Gregory from England and Carol-Ann Krause from New York, began writing to each other as Pen Pals back in 1955 when they were both 12-years-old.

As Gregory's 80th birthday recently approached, she told her daughter that she'd always wanted to visit Krause, who now lives in South Carolina.

Her daughter used social media to track down Krause’s family and asked if they would be interested in a meet-up — to which they said yes.

After hearing that, Gregory’s family surprised her on her 80th birthday with a ticket to South Carolina to finally be able to meet her pen pal on July 14.
