The Latest Exercise Craze: Drumboxing

Drumboxing, a new "brain fitness" technique developed by percussionist John Wakefield, is gaining popularity in Malibu. The workout combines physical boxing moves with Latin and Afro-Cuban rhythms to challenge the brain and improve focus, resilience, and adaptability.

Wakefield has been teaching the technique to boxers and athletes for over a decade, but recently opened a studio for Drumboxing. The exercise is designed to induce mistakes and push participants to learn from them, helping them develop adaptability skills.

While there are no studies on Drumboxing yet, neuroscientists believe it shows promise for attention, mindfulness, and presence.
