Norman Lear, the influential producer of TV shows such as "All in the Family" and "Maude," has died at the age of 101.

Lear was known for revolutionizing prime time television by incorporating political and social issues into his sitcoms. His shows helped define prime time comedy in the 1970s and beyond, launching the careers of actors such as Rob Reiner and Valerie Bertinelli.
