Renovations on the historic Castro Theatre in San Francisco are set to begin in February 2023 and are expected to be completed by the summer of 2025.
The theatre will close on February 4, following its final show on February 3. The renovations, approved by the SF Planning Commission and the Historic Preservation Commission, will include removing orchestra-level seating, expanding the women's restroom, improving ventilation and electrical systems, and restoring the ceiling.
The project aims to restore the theatre to its original 1922 architectural glory and make it more accessible and comfortable for diverse audiences.
