The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced that California will receive $88 million to purchase electric school buses.
The funding comes from the EPA's Clean School Bus Program, which is part of President Joe Biden's infrastructure law.
Transitioning away from diesel vehicles is seen as a benefit to both human and environmental health, as exposure to diesel particulate matter can cause serious health conditions.
Back in 2020, Milpitas Unified School District became the first district to have electric-powered school buses in use in the Bay Area.
