Dartmouth College has decided to reinstate the requirement for applicants to submit SAT or ACT scores, a mandate that was dropped at many colleges and universities during the pandemic.

The college believes that these scores are helpful in constructing the best incoming class, despite some experts questioning their value.

Other elite institutions like MIT and Georgetown have also brought back testing requirements, signaling a potential trend in the future.

However, organizations advocating for equitable assessments argue that standardized tests primarily benefit wealthier students and may not accurately predict student success.
